About the Japan DanceSport Federation

The Japan DanceSport Federation(JDSF) represents the World DanceSport Federation(WDSF) in Japan. The JDSF cooperates with other Amateur DanceSport Organizations of over 88 countries in the world to organize various official international competitions, such as Amateur World Championships and Asia-Pacific Championships, as well as to promote DanceSport.

The JDSF, which represents and governs the Amateur DanceSport World in Japan, aims at a contribution toward the sound development of the people both mentally and physically, through the sound promotion of DanceSport.

The JDSF's projects:

  1. Encouragement to promote DanceSport in Japan
  2. Support and organize competitions,lectures,congresses, etc
  3. Enactment of general rules and regulations,such as competition rules and amateur regulations
  4. Authorization of sanctioned competitions
  5. Improvement in skills and techniques of competitors and their registration management
  6. Authorization and education of sanctioned adjudicators and instructors
  7. Sanction and education of DanceSport circles and clubs
  8. Authorization of DanceSport equipments
  9. Research and study in DanceSport techniques
  10. Publication,especially a bulletin
  11. Selection of couples and officials to represent Japan in the international competitions,as well as invitation of couples and officials from overseas
  12. Cooperation in the WDSF's projects and events, as an official member of WDSF
  13. Promotion to join the Olympic games,cooperating with DanceSport Organizations of other countries.
  14. Joining Japan Amateur Sports Association(JASA) to support her projects
  15. Joining Japan Olympic Committee(JOC) to support her projects
  16. Other required activities to achieve the JDSF's aims

We had reformed the former organization, Japan Amateur Dance Association(JADA) and had unified the Nihon Shakaijin Dance Renmei(NSDR, Japan adult dance federation) and the League of Amateur Competition Dancers of Japan(LACD). After that, on 7/2/1999, we made a new start as the JDSF, the unified organization of all amateur dancers in Japan, including Japan University DanceSport Federation.
